Angelique Monet LOVES School Visits!
“I was very interested to see the artist/author visit for the "Bravest Warrior". We'd met before the book was published and I saw several of her beautiful illustrations. I was curious to see how it turned out. The interest level of our students, a group of 4th graders, was very high. They were so very interested in how the art work was created, the visit generated a new interest in several of the drawing applications on the ipads. Lots of questions were asked. The story empowered some of our more timid students and I heard them talking about the book after the talk. They had fun discussing things that make them fearful. I love the gentle way Angelique spoke with the students, and I believe they loved having her there. The book is appropriate for multiple age levels for various reasons.”
Carol Case, Teacher Vaughan Elementary, Powder Springs, Georgia “Angelique Monet recently visited our school and shared her marvelous book The Bravest Worrier. She spoke with Kindergarten, first and second graders and each presentation was catered directly to the particular grade level. Angelique held their interest by reading the story she created for one of her daughters and telling her story of becoming an author and illustrator. The students were enthralled with the illustrations and story that helped them understand that you don't have to be big to be brave!” Prissy Stewart, Media Specialist Sarah Smith Elementary, Atlanta, Georgia |
RAVES and REVIEWS
“One of the most meaningful and inspirational artists to present at GRACEPOINT School. Angelique was entertaining, sincere, compassionate, and inspiring as she presented “The Bravest Worrier” to our students. She creatively brought her beautifully illustrated book to LIFE and mesmerized all grade levels from 1st to 8th. Angelique captures her audience as an author and illustrator, while helping them understand they can overcome the “worries” that continually haunt them. What a gift! With our students she inspired a school-wide writing competition that was a positive learning experience for all. We are grateful for Angelique’s kindness and will invite her to come to our school every year to inspire and teach. I look forward to her next book! I highly recommend scheduling Angelique Monet to read and perform at your school or camp.”
Joy Wood, Head of School GRACEPOINT School, Marietta, Georgia “Angelique Monet’s visit to Jackson Primary was energetic, inspiring and motivational! She captured our student’s attention as she brought her book to life through whimsical illustrations and warm encouraging words. She was a wonderful inspiration for young authors and illustrators as she guided students through the process of how she used carefully detailed brush strokes and rich vibrant paint to bring her illustration of an antique lantern in her book to life! To add to the fun and excitement the students were able to interact with a fabulous real life prop which was inspired and created from an illustration from her book. Motivated by her own child’s experiences, she encourages children to face their worries and reminds them that they are never too young to be brave!” Marlin Larson, Teacher Warren T. Jackson Elementary, Atlanta, Georgia “My middle school students recently had the pleasure of an author visit from Angelique Monet as she detailed the process of writing and illustrating her book, "The Bravest Worrier". Ms. Monet described the process through which she wrote and illustrated the book and showed the students all of the different phases of the project. They were thrilled to hear from a real author and illustrator and they were amazed to learn that writing and illustrating a book is hard work, takes a lot of time, and is not something that comes easily no matter how talented you are. Ms. Monet captivated their attention with an engaging visual display, a demonstration of her illustration technique, and a book reading with flair. At the end she fielded my student's varied questions with a sense of humor and style.” Michelle Thrash, Teacher Lost Mountain Middle School, Kennesaw, Georgia |
A VISIT TO REMEMBER
A visit from Angelique Monet is exciting, inspiring, educational and full of wonderful whimsy. It is a visit that both students and facility will not forget. Inspiring children to write, create, and most of all to believe in themselves by letting go of the fear of failure. Children are emboldened to step outside their comfort zone and bravely commit to something new.
One of a kind interactive props help students understand visually and physically that when we feed the worries that live in our minds it can actually bring them to life.
For example:
By worrying about a test…(what if I fail? What if I forget? What if I run out of time?) can cause real life physical negative effects such as: poor sleep, headaches, stomach upset, and lack of focus. Worry sets the stage for the exact things we don’t want and 99% of the things we worry about never happen.
Angelique Monet shows children how to quiet the worry. How to push past the self-defeating negative talk in order to achieve their personal goals within school, sports, art, music, self-image and self-esteem. The Bravest Worrier lives in each and every one of us and even when we worry we can still be brave. Everything we want to achieve is right on the other side of fear. Angelique Monet will show your students just how brave they can be!
